KALYAN: A groom and his father has been booked for violating Covid-19 protocol during Haldi function held in Kalyan.
The action was taken after the video of the function went viral in which the groom and his 20 to 30 family members without wearing masks were seen dancing with two bulls and throwing money on them.
The two were identified as Vaibhav Mahatre and his father Prakash Mahatre. They are booked under different sections of the Epidemic Act, Disaster Management Act and section 188 of Indian Penal code.

The police said the incident took place on Saturday night a day before the wedding of Vaibhav outside their residence situated in Chinchpada area in Kalyan (East). The viral video shows Vaibhav along with his friend without wearing any masks and without following any social distancing dancing with their two bulls and throwing money on them. KP Thorat, senior police inspector of Vithalwadi police said, “The program was organised without any permission and since also social distancing norms were not followed we have booked the duo and further probe is on”.
In past too a wedding was held in Kalyan of a Shiv Sena leader Sunil Vayle’s son in Kalyan in which hundreds of people had gathered.
It is to recall that coronavirus cases are increasing daily in twin Kalyan-Dombivli city where Covid-19 cases have crossed over 1 lakh.
