TRICHY: The Trichy Corporation on Sunday launched road patchwork in several parts of the city. The roads, damaged in recent rainfall and dug for underground drainage project, are being repaired.
For almost a month, the residents have been criticising the civic body for failing to relay the roads.
On Sunday, the civic body carried out patchwork on roads in Singarathope, the Fort Station Road and West Boulevard Road in Srirangam zone.
“Since a pan-city underground drainage project is in pipeline, we have not relaid the roads but only completed patchwork. The proposed work involves digging up the roads again, so laying a new layer of the road is futile,” a corporation official said.
The civic body has planned to complete maintenance work in a phased manner and at night to avoid disturbing the road traffic.
